Complete Dairy Equipment Shipment Arrives in Uganda: A 5,000 Liter Per Hour Milk Processing Turnkey Solution
In May 2026, our engineering team successfully delivered and commissioned a complete milk processing and dairy equipment shipment to a major dairy cooperative in Kampala, Uganda. The project encompassed a 5,000-liter-per-hour UHT milk production line, pasteurization system, and full packaging line — delivered as a fully integrated turnkey dairy plant.
Project Scope: From Raw Milk to Shelf-Ready Dairy Products
The Ugandan dairy cooperative required a comprehensive solution to process fresh milk sourced from local farms and distribute long-life dairy products across East Africa. Our team designed and manufactured the complete dairy processing line at our facility in China, with full factory acceptance testing before crating and shipping.
Equipment Included in This Shipment
-
5,000 L/H UHT Milk Processing System with direct steam injection
-
Batch Pasteurization Unit for cream and yogurt base production
-
Automatic Milk Receiving and Balancing Station
-
Homogenizer (2-stage, 25 MPa) for fat emulsion stability
-
Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) for milk pre-heating, pasteurization, and cooling
-
Industrial Stainless Steel Storage Silos (10,000L total capacity)
-
PET Bottle Blowing-Fill-Seal Combined Line (500ml and 1L formats)
-
Automatic Packaging and Coding System
-
Clean-in-Place (CIP) Station with acid/alkaline dosing
-
Compressed Air and Steam Generation System
-
Complete Electrical Control Cabinet with PLC (Siemens S7-1200) and HMI touch screen
Engineering and Factory Acceptance Testing
Before shipment, every unit underwent rigorous FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) at our manufacturing base. The test protocol included:
-
Continuous 72-hour running test at full capacity
-
Temperature accuracy verification across all heat exchange stages
-
Sterility and leak testing on aseptic filling equipment
-
PET bottle blowing and sealing integrity test (burst pressure >8 bar)
-
Electrical system loop test and HMI simulation
-
Documentation: P&ID diagrams, electrical schematics, operation manuals, and Spare Parts List
Shipping and Logistics: From Shanghai to Kampala
The shipment was packed into 14 high-cube containers (40ft HQ) and shipped via sea freight from Shanghai Port to Mombasa Port, Kenya, then overland transit to Kampala via the Northern Corridor. Total transit time was 28 days. Our logistics team handled customs documentation including:
-
Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, and Packing List
-
Certificate of Origin (Form E for China-Africa trade benefits)
-
APHIS-compliant phytosanitary certificates for wooden crating
-
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) import clearance support
Installation and Commissioning: On-Site in Uganda
Upon arrival, our after-sales service team of 3 engineers spent 3 weeks on-site to complete:
-
Equipment positioning and mechanical leveling
-
Piping connection (product lines, CIP lines, steam, and condensate)
-
Electrical hookup and cable tray installation
-
Calibration and parameter setting on the PLC/HMI system
-
Trial production runs with fresh local milk

Why Uganda's Dairy Sector Is Growing Fast
Uganda's dairy industry is one of the largest in East Africa, with an estimated 2 billion liters of milk produced annually. Demand for processed, shelf-stable dairy products is rising sharply in urban centers like Kampala, Entebbe, and Jinja — driven by a growing middle class and cold chain limitations that make UHT milk a preferred choice over fresh milk.
This project positions our Ugandan client to capture significant market share in the long-life milk segment, with capacity to expand into yogurt, cheese, and butter product lines in Phase 2.
